In southern Alabama, Mobile is one of the oldest ports of the United States. The city has long been a melting pot for Spanish, French, African and Creole influences which can be seen in the cityscape and culture until today.

The most important attractions of the city include the historic district with their antebellum buildings, several museums such as the Battleship Memorial Park or the History Museum of Mobile and the Botanical Garden which is known for its collection of rhododendron.
